Holiday cottage with Electric Vehicle Charging - Norfolk

What type of charger is available?

Shangri-la, Waxham, EV charging point in carpark

Shangri-la has an EV point to charge your EV when staying. After a long journey, you don’t have to worry about going out to find somewhere to charge. We have installed the familiar Zappi EV charger, so you need to do nothing more than plug in and get on with your holiday.

What cars are supported by the charger?

There are two types of Zappi charger: tethered and untethered. A tethered charger has a Type 2 cable and plug attached which can’t be removed. This is the type we provide at Shangri-la. It will charge any Type 2 compatible electric vehicle. All modern EVs, with the exception of small number Type 1 vehicles can, therefore, be charged.

How do I book the charger?

There is an option at the checkout when booking to pay for the use of the charger. If you decide you need the charger after making your booking, just let us know. We’ll provide the code for charger, when we send you the other details about your stay.

Where do I charge on my way to Norfolk?

We’ve put together a handy guide to the best online tools to make your journey to Norfolk smooth and trouble-free.

  1. Zap-Map: This platform provides a comprehensive map of EV charging stations across the UK. You can use the website or the mobile app to plan your route, search for charging points, check their availability in real-time, and get directions. It’s particularly useful for planning longer journeys as it allows you to filter charging stations by connector type and network, ensuring compatibility with your vehicle. More information can be found on their website Zap-Map.

  2. ChargeHub: This service offers a similar functionality with a trip planner that allows you to enter your starting and ending points, and then it maps out all available charging stations along your route. You can adjust your route based on the availability of charging stations and also save and share your trip plans. Check it out on their site ChargeHub.

  3. Chargemap: Chargemap also provides detailed route planning tailored to EV travel. You can input your journey’s start and end points, vehicle model, and desired charging network preferences. The system then calculates an optimal route based on your needs, including all necessary charging stops. This tool is beneficial if you want to customize your travel based on specific criteria such as avoiding tolls or preferring certain charging networks. Learn more at Chargemap.
